Rekyl can be used as part of sensory integration therapy with children, where it helps bring calmness to both mind and body. Rekyl supports the balance between the child and the concentration they often struggle to maintain in learning situations. The vest is designed to wrap around the stomach and chest, fitting snugly so that the body senses both the comforting pressure of a “hug” and the calming weight it provides. Rekyl can also benefit children with low muscle tone, as it helps them become more aware of their body, thereby supporting regulation of muscle tone. However, this should always be done in collaboration with a therapist, as low tone can have many causes that must be considered when using a weighted vest. Ease of use:

With its smart side closure, the vest is particularly suitable for slimmer children, as it can easily be adjusted to fit snugly around the body and provide the right pressure distribution. After a few tries, the child can fasten and unfasten the vest independently. The size can be adjusted by moving the buckle on the elastic strap. One of the great advantages of Rekyl is that it allows freedom of movement, enabling the child to participate in activities while still benefiting from the calming effects of the vest’s pressure and weight. It also looks just like a regular vest. Rekyl should fit closely to the body, as it is the torso that should carry the weight – not the shoulders! However, it should only be used for limited time intervals to avoid overstimulation. Always follow the instructions provided with the product, and remember to measure the child around the navel to find the correct size.
